Uganda’s long distance runner, Joshua Cheptegei broke the 10,000m World Record which had remained intact for 15 years.
Cheptegei completed the run and set a new world record in Valencia, Spain winning at 26.11.02 minutes
The record Cheptegei broke was set by Ethiopian Kenenisa Bekele in Brussels.
Today’s 10,000m World Record is Joshua’s 3rd World Record breaking this COVID19 year 2020 after the world record in 5km Road Race in Monaco in February, another 5,000 km World Record Track in August 2020 also in Monaco.
Chetegei did not give up in 2017 when his body shut down in the last four minutes of a race he was leading but turned out 30th.
