Kyadondo East MP and People Power leader Robert Sentamu Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, has written to the Ugandan government requesting it to receive people stuck in China, and keep them until they are able to return to their countries.
Kyagulanyi wants the Republic of Uganda to receive and host people from several African countries undergoing gross human rights violations.
In his letter to PM Rt. Hon. Ruhakan Rugunda copied to Internal and Foreign Affairs Ministers, Kyagulanyi says he recently partnered with a US-based businessman to put together resources to airlift people from China to a country willing to receive them.
In recent weeks, there has been a wave of violence meted on Africans especially in the Chinese town of Guangzhou, where blacks are discriminated against on grounds of spreading coronavirus.
“Working with our friends across the world, we are putting together resources to take care of them while under quarantine for the sake of Ugandans, and while in Uganda for the sake of foreign nationals, until they are able to return to their countries” the letter reads in part.
He says he is in touch with many of them who have reported incidents of targeted attacks; being denied entry into certain public facilities as well as being denied medical care simply because they are blacks.
The people he wants hosted in Uganda also include African-Americans and those from the Caribbean.
Kyagulanyi says his team would love to airlift 285 people using a private chartered flight Quantum Jets –Airbus A330-200.
“I now write to request that the republic of Uganda accept to receive these people” He says. Our teams is available to discuss with you any other modalities related to this arrangement.
