The joint opposition candidate in the upcoming by-election for Hoima District Woman representative in Parliament Asinasi Nyakato is already claiming a whopping 80% support ahead of the elections on Thursday.
Speaking to the media before setting off for the last minute campaigns Tuesday morning, Asinansi Nyakato expressed optimism in the outcome of the hotly contested election claiming that as it stands, the opposition camp has 80% of the support just hours to Election Day.
FDC’s Asinansi Nyakato is facing NRM’s Harriet Mugyenyi Busingye alias “Baby Face” in what is expected to be a highly competitive election on Thursday 26th September 2019.
Nyakato said the campaigns have so far gone well, but appealed to the NRM camp for peaceful elections since it is not “war.” She also claimed that NRM has already deployed armed militia groups both in uniform and plain clothes.
She said the people of Hoima have been yawning for change, and more especially a united opposition which the opposition forces have offered this time. She appreciated Hon. Sentamu Kyagulanyi and his team who have been on her campaigning trail ever since the campaigns started.
Tuesday’s rallies will be the last as both candidates will take rest tomorrow before going to polls on Thursday. The opposition joint team is expected to hold rallies in Kitoba Sub-county and a final rally will be held today at Boori Primary school.
On the other hand, President Museveni is today expected to accompany the NRM flag-bearer and address two rallies at Kabaale sub-county, and later at Booma grounds in Hoima municipality.
