The Kabaka of Buganda His Highness Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has rallied his subjects to remain courageous as they hope to defeat enemies who continue to perpetuate malice, envy and hate towards Buganda Kingdom.
The cultural leader’s call is part of his Christmas and en-of-year message to subjects, issued on Thursday December 21, 2023.
In a strong-worded statement written in Luganda, the Kabaka rallied his people to remain steadfast, and “not lose hope because God can never forsake those who stick to truth and justice.”
Without mentioning the enemies, Kabaka Mutebi noted that the biggest task before his leadership is to rally unity among the youths for them to boldly speak with one voice on matters relating to Buganda Kingdom.
“Tubalamusizza mwenna era tubebaza byona byemukola kulw’Obwakabaka ne Uganda yoona. Twebaza Katonda okutukuuma okutuuka Leero. .tukyalina bingi byetulina okukola bitusobozese okusiguukulula enkwe, obuggya n’effuttwa ebikolebwa abalina empiiga ku Bwakabaka.”
As the year 2023 comes to an end, the Kabaka encouraged his subjects in Buganda Kingdom not to despair but reflect on failures and draw experiences which will guide them towards success in the coming years.
Whether the said enemies are perceived or real, at Mengo or elsewhere, the Kabaka is known to openly confront adversaries using platforms at Kingdom events or in seasonal greetings written specifically to his subjects. In this particular statement, he again rallied his people to confront those who undermine efforts by his kingdom to create partnerships in order to weaken it.
At his 30th coronation anniversary in July this year, Kabaka Mutebi noted that whereas his Kingship was restored and it is loved, it has enemies who hate it. He told youth to sleep with one eye open as his Kingdom is under threat from “detractors and haters”.
“The Kingdom was restored and we love it but there are those who hate it, therefore, we should not sleep with eyes open, the youth, we love you and you have exhibited the love, you are the hope of Buganda,” Kabaka Mutebi said at the anniversary of his enthronement as the 36th King of Buganda.
This year’s message, His Highness Ronald Mutebi appealed to parents to guide school children who are on holiday especially on social media use which he said has caused more problems to the society.
“Tubaagalizza ssekuukulu ey’essanyu n’Omwaka omuggya ogujjude emirenbe n’okwefumintiriza ku mbeera ya Buganda ey’enkya” he stated in Luganda.
