President Yoweri Museveni’s Deputy Press Secretary Farouk Kirunda claims the National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi has resorted to using government vehicles in campaign rallies in order to attract the attention of security agencies.
In a short message posted on social media on Monday, Mr. Kirunda also shared a photograph showing people (purported to be NUP supporters) cruising on a pick-up vehicle belonging to the Ministry of Health, during a campaign procession.
Mr. Kirunda also asked the Ministry of Health to act against the official who facilitated Kyagulanyi with a government vehicle for his campaigns.
“After failing to attract numbers in his campaign drives, @HEBobiwine has resorted to using a Govt vehicle so as to attract security attention, to spark off chaos. The in-charge of that M.O.H vehicle Reg. No: UG 4679M sh’d be held accountable. FK” Mr. Kirunda posted on social media platform X.
Since last week, Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and NUP leaders have conducted rallies in the southwestern towns of Mbarara, Fort-portal, Kasese and Kabale, with minimal interference from security agencies.
On Monday, NUP leaders addressed mammoth crowds in Mayuge District and so far no grisly incidents have been reported as has been the case before.
