Kira Municipality MP, Ibrahim Semujju Nganda has laughed at the leadership of the Forum for Democratic Change(FDC) party leadership saying he is not bothered by the decision taken sacking him as party chief whip in Parliament.
In an August, 7 letter the FDC Secretary General, Nathan Nandala Mafabi sacked Semujju as party whip and replaced him with Mawokota South MP, Yusuf Nsibambi.
Commenting about the sacking, Ssemujju said on Tuesday afternoon that what has happened was expected of the FDC leaders since they were uncomfortable with his popularity.
“In fact I was waiting for this. Amuriat and Nandala have no right to sack me, but also there is nothing in being the FDC whip in parliament. If they want it so much, I will give it to them but they didn’t have to sack me like they are purporting” Semujju told reporters on Tuesday.
“My major responsibility is representing the people of Kira Municipality. They are already uncomfortable” Semujju added.
According to Nandala’s letter, the replacement takes immediate effect.
Semujju said “it was just a matter of time” because in earlier meetings, party president Patrick Amuriat told FDC MPs that Semujju Nganda was talking too much in Parliament and he was causing other MPs problems.
“It is just given that Museveni would tell him that I no longer want Semujju , he is causing me trouble,”Semujju said.
The latest developments come at the backdrop of continued deepening of the rift within the FDC -once biggest opposition party which now has two factions.
A faction of FDC members led by Semujju accuses the top party leaders -president Patrick Amuriat and Secretary General Nandala Mafabi of having received money from President Museveni to fund the previous 2021 general elections, an allegation the two denies.
