The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) in its joint operation with the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) received two ADF fighters after surrendering.
According to the spokesperson for UPDF Mountain Division/Operation Shujaa Major Bilal Katamba, the two fighters reported to the UPDF 3rd battalion headquarters at Kasindi, North Kivu yesterday 6th August 2023.
In a related development, two terrorists of the ADF were put out of action on 6th August 2023, by the joint forces under Makindye battalion. Maj. Katamba says this was after the joint forces got in contact with the ADF in Mwalika valley and two sub machine guns, 15 rounds of ammunition, and a walkie talkie were recoverd.
In the same fight with the ADF, Maj. Katamba says seven abductees were rescued from the ADF and are currently at the joint forces sector headquarters awaiting evacuation and subsequent rehabilitation process.
The joint forces, according to Maj. Katamba wishes to encourage all ADF rebels who want to surrender to the joint forces to use earliest opportunity and report to any joint forces operating within their vicinity.
