The Kabaka of Buganda His Highness Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II has called on his subjects to intensify prayers for Uganda and his leadership amid challenges oppression, hypocrisy, and corruption among others.
Kabaka Mutebi’s call is in the Easter message to his subjects within and outside Buganda Kingdom, the strongest monarch in Uganda today.
Ahead of the Holy Days in Christianity, He urged believers who have been praying for Buganda not to give up but also forgive “those whose joy is to see others shed tears” especially those fighting for rights, unity and non-discrimination.
“..tusaba omutima ogw’okusabira, okwesabira, n’okusabira eggwanga lyaffe, gweyongere bulijjo. Okuzuukira kwa Yesu Kristo kutwegombesa okusonyiwa abo bona abasanyukira amaziga n’okunyolwa kwa’abantu baffe nadala abo abayayanira eddembe, obumu n’okusosolebwa okwengeri ez’enjawulo.” Mutebi said.
Easter concludes lent period for Christians -characterized with fasting, praying and repentance. It also falls at a time when Muslims are in their Holy month of Rhamadhan -a significant period for Muslims around the world, marked by hope and spiritual growth.
“Tusabira n’ebyo ebitusoomooza omuli; ebikolwa eby’obunanfuusi, emisolo emingi, obulyake, okuyobola empisa, n’eby’obuwangwa, n’ebbula ly’emirimu mu bavubuka baffe.” He added calling for prayers against acts of hypocrisy, heavy taxes, corruption, disrespect for traditional norms and high unemployment rates.
Kabaka Mutebi encouraged subjects to soldier on despite feeling discouraged and losing hope at times.
He wished them joy during Easter holidays but also urged them to encourage others to engage in income-generating activities for better livelihoods.
