Suspected Bomb causes paralysis in traffic flow along Kampala – Entebbe Expressway

Entebbe Expressway was temporarily closed to traffic for hours on Wednesday causing serious interruptions in traffic flow along Kampala-Entebbe route.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire the Deputy Spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan Police, the closure came after an unidentified object suspected to be a bomb was this morning found on the Expressway.

In a statement, SSP Kauma Nsereko the Police Commander in charge of traffic Kampala Metropolitan said the road was closed to facilitate the Police Bomb Squad undertake an investigation along the Expressway.

“This is to inform all road users who are using Entebbe Express Highway that there’s an investigation going by the Police Bomb Squad along the Expressway. You are therefore requested to use the Old Entebbe Road to the City and to Entebbe for the time being until the investigations are done and normal traffic flow will restored. Please abide by the instructions from our traffic officers. Thank you.” SSP Kauma Nsereko
Commander KMP TRAFFIC said.

Owoyesigyire however could not disclose the exact location on the highway where this happened but reports indicted heavy traffic on the old-Entebbe road due to the unexpected incident.

At the time filing this report, Owoyesigyire said the suspicious object had been retrieved by experts and taken for further investigation.

The expressway had also been opened to traffic and the traffic flow has since normalized.
