The Member of Parliament for Rubaga South Hon. Mukasa Aloysius has appealed to police and other security agencies to step up operations to curb the rising cases of criminality in Rubaga.
Hon. Mukasa’s appeal followed concerns reported by locals including cases of house break-ins, and theft of property which are on the rise in Kabowa Zone. Locals also reported several other challenges including high levels of unemployment, rampant floods whenever it rains and land grabbing especially in Sembule Zone.
The area MP received reports on Sunday during a fundraising event at St. Joseph Catholic Parish in Ndeeba which he attended alongside the Leader of Opposition Hon. Mathias Mpuuga. The event was to raise funds to buy a printing machine which is one of the projects undertaken by the Church Choir and the LOP was the chief guest.
Hon. Mukasa hailed the church choir for exhibiting the skills, being innovative but also for grooming the music talent among the youths. He also shanded over a big envelope as upport for the choir project.
The area MP appealed to Uganda Revenue Authority to roll out tax education programs in Ndeeba Parish where the business community reported harsh tax enforcement policicies but also urged government for support to businesses which are recovering from effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He however appealed to security agencies to refrain from acts of harrassment and torture of citizens which were also reported by locals.
