Political activist and leader of People’s Front for Transition (PFT) Rt Col Dr Kiiza Besigye was today arrested in the city centre Kampala as he led a protest campaign protesting the inaction of government to respond to skyrocketting commodity prices in Uganda.
Besigye managed to beat security surveillance that has for weeks blocked his access to the city centre only to later be intercepted around Ben Kiwanuka street in Kampala and his car towed away by a Police armoured vehicle. It was later established that the former FDC president and four-time presidential candidate was detained at Nagalama Police Station in Mukono District.
Here (in pictures) is his short-lived tour of the city centre where he urged crowds to rise and demand for a transition in Uganda.
