The former Prime Minister , Dr Ruhakana Rugunda has said the death of the former Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah is a great loss since Uganda has lost a strong leader and patriot who young people should emulate.
“Oulanyah was a great leader who loved his country and this is a challenge to the young people to double their efforts.
Dr Rugunda made the remarks this afternoon at Parliament while speaking to journalists where he had come to pay his tribute to the former speaker Oulanyah.
He said that this great legacy of Oulanyah should be carried on and the young people should double their efforts by emulating the legend.
“Uganda has lost a great leader. Young people should double their efforts in loving their country and Africa so that the great legacy can impact on many people,” said Rugunda.
He said that Oulanyah loved this country and young people to emulate his example and move on with his legacy.
Mukono South MP, Johnson Muyanja Ssenyonga who also paid his tribute to the fallen Speaker also told journalists that Oulanyah was a responsible man and one who never held a grudge with anyone even if he was angry.
“It’s very sad that Oulanyah a diligent man who easily forgives and forgets even after being angered has died,” added Ssenyonga.
Oulanyah died at a hospital in Seattle in the United States of America, following an illness that kept him out of duty since the beginning of this year. His body returned to the country on Friday and he will be buried on Friday April 8, 2022 at his ancestral home in Omoro District.
