Artillery fire and military airstrikes conducted against the Allied Democratic Forces ADF rebels by the Ugandan army -UPDF were on target, the Army spokesperson said.
Earlier, UPDF spokesperson Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso had stated that Ugandan army today morning launched artillery and airstrikes to flush out the rebels in Eastern Congo.
“The targets were accurately hit and the opetations against terrorists will continue as we look for other targets of opportunity during ground operations” the statement reads in part.
For more than a decade the ADF has been terrorizing the region committing attrocities against the population.
Sources inside Congo said the attacks had been going on since 5:30AM EAT on Tuesday and that they targetted ADF camps in North Kivu province, eastern DRC.
The latest joint offensive is conducted by UPDF and the Democratic Republic of Congo army -FARDC.
