President Yoweri Museveni has hailed the first lady Janet Kataaha Museveni as a “rock” on which the first family sits.
This was included in President Museveni’s message to his wife who turned 72 years of age, on June 24.
“On Maama Janet Museveni’s birthday this 24th of June, I would like to congratulate her. I thank her for being a rock to our family and mother to our larger family of Uganda. May God continue to bless and keep her” President Museveni tweeted on Wednesday.
The President’s message is consistent with his demonstrated respect for family and women as strong pillars in development.
It also manifests in the confidence he bestows in women as he makes appointments for key positions in his government.
Speaking at International this years Women’s Day celebrations in Mbale, President Yoweri Museveni used himself as an example to illustrate the fact that for more than 40 years, he had never “even pushed” Janet.
He said it is cowardly for men to beat wives, adding there are better ways through which disputes can be resolved.
“Thank you so much” Janet Museveni tweeted back. An amazing and lovely life they must be living.
Congratulations on your 72nd Birthday Mama Janet! May you blow many more candles.
