A 46-year-old Burundian refugee who entered Uganda through Tanzania tested positive for coronavirus.
The case arose after 1,177 samples were tested on Monday.
The patient was quarantined in Rakai District. Uganda now has 56 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
However, 10 more people who previously tested positive for the virus were on Monday discharged from hospital
As of April 20, a total of 38 people who previously tested positive for coronavirus in Uganda had been discharged from hospitals.
They were discharged after they reportedly tested negative twice after treatment. With the new case, Uganda now has 18 active cases.
On Monday the total number of people who have recovered from the COVID-19 surpassed the number of active cases in Uganda.
The 10 discharged on Monday according to the Ministry of Health, include 5 Watoto choir members, 3 of their caretakers and 2 boda boda cyclists who had previously tested positive.
One of the boda-boda riders is from Kasubi, while the other one is from Kalangala islands.
