Uganda’s long distance runner Joshua Cheptegei has began 2020 by breaking the 5KM world record at the Monaco Run in French City of Monaco.
The 24- year Cheptegi completed the race in a time of 12:49 beating the previous World Record mark at 13:29.
In 2019, Joshua Cheptegei stormed to a world 10Km road record with 26:38 in Valencia breaking the previous record set in 2010 by Kenya’s Leonard Komon by six seconds.
Cheptegei now says his ultimate goal this year is excelling at Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
