Ayebare Fortune Mugisha, a woman who had been declared missing is in custody of security agencies – Police has clarified.
The pictures of Ayebare Fortune have been circulating on social media since yesterday evening with family members indicating that she went missing after an alleged kidnap that happened on Wednesday around Shell Fuel Station Kireka, Wakiso District.
The deputy Police Spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan Luke Owoyesigire on Thursday morning confirmed that Fortune Ayebare is in the hands of security agencies after she was arrested yesterday evening.
He however declined to divulge details of the offense for which Fortune was arrested but said she is safe and sound, and if relatives want to see her they can contact Kireka Police Station for directions as to where she is.
The development comes at the height of cases of kidnaps and murder that have rocked the country in which at least 3 people have been kidnapped and murdered around Metropolitan Kampala in a period of 2 weeks.
The most recent case involved a social worker Maria Nagirinya and her driver Ronald Kitayimbwa who were kidnapped by unknown people on 28 August 2019. Their bodies were later found dumped in a swamp in Mukono District.
Another businessman James Kalumba was also kidnapped by unknown people in areas of Entebbe, only to find his dead body a few days later lying in a swamp along Entebbe road.
