President Museveni has flagged off a contingent of 800 secondary school athletes who will participate in the East African Secondary School games in Arusha Tanzania.
The event happened yesterday at State House Entebbe and the first lady was accompanied by his wife Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni who is also the minister for Education and sports.
“It is a joy to see many of you going out there to represent Uganda and many come back with medals and trophies. I believe that even this time you will succeed and make us proud. May God go with you” Hon. Janet Museveni tweeted after the event.
The games will run from the 15th to 24th of this month, and they include; Football (boys and Girls), Volleyball (Boys and Girls), Netball (Girls), and Handball (Girls).
A total of 5 countries will participate in this year’s championship and apart from Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda who featured in the 2018 edition, but Tanzania and Burundi will make a comeback after missing the 2018 games.
Team Uganda is represented by St. Mary’s Kitende, Mukono High, St. Noah Girls, Kawempe Moslem, Standard High Zzana, Dynamic SS, Kinaawa High Sch, Trust High Sch, Buddo SS, Ngando SS, Kibuli SS, Kawanda SS, Mbogo SS, Mukono High and Jinja SS.
