Property worth millions of Shillings belonging to students of Namirembe Hillside High School Gayaza, Wakiso District has been lost after their dormitory caught fire this morning.
Fire gutted a four storied block that houses boys’ dormitories and severely destroyed students’ belongings including bedding’s, clothes, books and suitcases.
However no death has been confirmed as a result of the fire, but according to the school director Mr. Hiraly Kizza, some students sustained minor injuries and were rushed to hospital for treatment. He also said that it is not necessary to close the school since the administration has enough space to accommodate the affected students.
Fire fighters from Uganda Police were immediately called in and the fire has been contained. However, the cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed as police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
Mr. Hiraly said that a roll call has been conducted and no student is missing.
He also said that students that were are in shock after the inferno have already been discharged
